General questions

Should I use briquettes or charcoal for grilling?

Both can be used without any problems, it just depends on your individual needs. Briquettes are better for longer and more constant heat. Charcoal, on the other hand, burns faster and develops more heat.

Can the material rust?

When the material in the fire bowl glows, the material's natural passivation protection is temporarily removed. The combination of fire, ash, moisture and oxygen can lead to rust formation, even in stainless steel. However, this is only surface rust, which can be easily removed with stainless steel wool.
The material will never rust through. You can find further information on handling in our operating instructions.

What do accessories mean for your FENNEK products?

Accessories for your FENNEK products are not necessarily produced in Germany, but fully meet the high quality standards of the FENNEK brand.

Can stainless steel warp?

All FENNEK products are made from extremely heat-resistant stainless steel, which is also used in the automotive industry. Important to note: The grill should never come into contact with water when it is hot. This could cause the material to warp. Otherwise, our stainless steel products, from grills to fire bowls, cannot warp due to the heat-resistant material.

How long does it take for steel to get a rusty look?

The material naturally begins to take on the rust patina after a few weeks. Depending on the weather conditions, this can happen faster or slower. However, it takes about 1 year for the material to completely take on the rustic look.

What is the difference between stainless steel and titanium?

The main difference is that titanium is lighter than stainless steel due to its lower density. However, titanium is significantly more expensive to produce than stainless steel.

What can I do if I have lost something?

How long does it take for the grills to cool down?

The material used conducts heat extremely well, but does not store it. This means that the ashes can be disposed of properly and the grill put away again soon after grilling. It is difficult to give an exact time because this also depends on the location and the ambient temperature. As a small guide: serve the last grilled food, enjoy the meal in peace and quiet and then dispose of the ashes.

Can the grill warp in high heat?

Can the FENNEK 2.0 be stored in a backpack?

Due to its dimensions, the FENNEK 2.0 cannot be transported in a backpack . Only the normal FENNEK grill or the individual parts of the Hexagon can be transported in the backpack. However, you can transport the FENNEK 2.0 in our One2explore backpack , in the Velcro bag , or in the zippered bag .

Can the plancha also be used for the FENNEK Light?

Yes, the plancha plate is compatible with the FENNEK Light and can also be stored in the bag.

What is a Molle system?

Molle refers to a carrying system that offers you flexible attachment options. The compression straps included with the One2explore backpack allow you to individually store your additional equipment.

How do I attach the compression straps?

You can thread the compression straps through the daisy chains (loops) on the side of the backpack and use them to attach your equipment. You can also attach the straps to the Molle system on the front.

Which products are suitable for the flame retardant mat?

The flame retardant mat is compatible with the Hobo Solo , Hobo Basic , Hobo Premium and also in conjunction with the folding grill . It is also suitable for the FENNEK Grill and the FENNEK Light .

Is there a way to change the overall height of the fire bowl?

Yes, we have extended feet for the Allround fire bowl in our range, which you can purchase separately. Assembly is just as easy as with the standard feet. With a total height of 78cm when assembled, they allow you to have an ergonomic working height. This makes the fire bowl about 20cm higher than before.

Can I also use the flame salmon holder on the fire plate?

Yes, you can use our FENNEK fire plate adapter for flame salmon holders . This adapter was specially developed for this purpose and is attached directly above the flame hole of the fire plate. Installation is very simple and effortless, as the adapter is fixed with a knurled screw. The adapter is suitable for our normal flame salmon holder, as well as for the flame salmon holder Shorty.

How can I protect the surface of the Hexagon?

For this case, we have had the FENNEK Stand Up! in our range since autumn 2020 – a heat protection for the floor and the immediate heat-sensitive environment.

Can a Dutch oven be placed in the Hexagon?

Since the sides of the hexagon run apart at an angle and there is also wood in the bowl, a Dutch oven with approx. 7 liters, or a diameter of 30-35 cm, fits well into the bowl.

How heavy can the 4Fire be loaded?

The 4Fire and the heat protection Stand Up! can support a load of approx. 15 kg.

How much weight can the fire net hold?

The fire net can hold about 10 kg.

Can you grill on the fire net?

The fire net is not suitable for grilling. It is more suitable for roasting marshmallows, bread on sticks or similar. For grilling we recommend our mobile grills and fire bowls .

FENNEK Hobo Basic / Solo / Premium

What can the Hobo be powered by?

All hobos can be operated either with wood, a spirit stove such as Trangia, a gas stove, dry fuel, or even with barbecue lighters.

What is the purpose of the multi-bowl on the Hobo Premium?

The multi-bowl included in delivery protects the surface from falling ash, but does not replace the flame retardant mat. The multi-bowl can also be used as a baking tray.

What is the Add-on extension set for the Hobo Basic suitable for?

With theexpansion set Add-on you have an even larger grill and cooking surface, which is perfect for large pots and pans. It enables more efficient combustion and perfect heat distribution. In addition, you can also use your Hobo as a fire pit. You don't need an additional bag either, because the disassembled extension set fits together with the Hobo Basic in the bag provided.

Does the flame salmon holder also fit on my fire bowl?

Basically, our flame salmon holder fits on all standard kettle grills and fire bowls . Thanks to the fire plate adapter , the flame salmon holder even fits on your fire plate. First, however, you should check how thick the edge of your fire bowl is. The flame salmon holder has a 1.8cm opening on both sides. If the edge of your fire bowl is thicker, the flame salmon holder might not fit.
